Yacht Design
Yacht design has long been a personal passion of Aaron Vinod John. He believes that many aspects of the yachting industry have evolved more slowly than those of the automotive and aviation sectors, particularly in areas such as efficiency, performance, safety, and manufacturing innovation. This perspective has driven his interest in developing new concepts that challenge conventional approaches to yacht design.
At the age of 16, Aaron developed a conceptual self-righting trimaran architecture intended to scale across a wide range of vessel sizes. The concept seeks to combine the performance advantages of multihulls with enhanced safety characteristics traditionally associated with monohulls. While still under development, it reflects his broader interest in rethinking established naval architecture principles through engineering-led innovation.
His long-term ambition is to establish a yacht design firm focused on high-performance sailing vessels capable of operating in extreme latitudes and demanding offshore environments. Particular areas of interest include aluminium sailing yachts, expedition-capable multihulls, and performance-oriented designs that prioritize efficiency, reliability, and seaworthiness.
Aaron is also interested in modernizing yacht construction and reducing unnecessary cost inflation within the industry. By exploring alternative design methodologies, manufacturing processes, and material utilization strategies, he aims to develop vessels that deliver exceptional capability and quality while remaining more accessible than many comparable offerings in today's market.
He has plans to start a yacht design firm in the upcoming years. If you are a naval architect and you want to collaborate with him on this yacht design firm, please feel free to give him a call!
